Gilberto Heinzelmann

Mr. Heinzelmann is a member of BroadSpan’s Board of Advisors, and has extensive experience as an entrepreneur, executive, and advisor to various companies in Brazil. Currently, he holds positions on the Administrative Boards of Intelbras and Librelato, is a member of the strategy committee of the Federation of Industries of the State of Santa Catarina (FIESC), and is a partner and co-founder of TNS Nano and Revella Agritech.
Between 2012 and 2023, he worked as an executive at ZEN Metalúrgica, where he held positions as Director of Sales, Marketing, and Engineering, as well as President and CEO. He was responsible for implementing operational excellence processes and expanding the product portfolio.
Mr. Heinzelmann also served as an executive at Embraco for over 20 years, holding roles in New Business, Sales Management, International Marketing, and Senior Engineering. During this period, he managed contracts exceeding US$900.0 million, involving global accounts listed in the Fortune Global 500, and negotiated 80% of the company's production volume.
Mr. Heinzelmann graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, completed postgraduate studies in Materials Engineering at FERJ, and holds an MBA in Management from UNICEMP, along with various specializations from INSEAD, Harvard, and IMD. He is fluent in English and Portuguese, with an advanced level of communication in German.

Mr. Rosen is a Senior Advisor based in Connecticut. Mr. Rosen has more than 30 years of experience in investment banking, having completed over 200 transactions including some of the most noteworthy M&A deals in Latin America. Mr. Rosen served as Head and later Chairman of Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Latin American Investment Banking division, Head of Latin American Financial Institutions of Credit-Suisse, Head of Latin American M&A at UBS, and Head of Latin American investment banking at Barclays.
More recently, Mr. Rosen served as Chief Executive Officer of Excelsa Acquisition Corp, which was a special purpose acquisition company in registration with the goal of making an acquisition in Latin America. Mr. Rosen was appointed as the Acting Executive Director of the United States of the International BBC Monetary Fund. He was also Deputy Assistant Secretary of the United States Treasury. Mr. Rosen is a Partner of Advection Growth Capital, a merchant banking firm that invests and raises capital for tech-related growth companies.
Mr. Rosen is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He was formally a member of the Oriel College Oxford University Development Committee and a board member of NEST, a nonprofit focused on micro-enterprises in emerging markets.
Mr. Rosen earned a master’s degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from the University of Oxford and received his MBA from Harvard Business School.

Ernesto Heinzelmann

Mr. Heinzelmann currently serves as a Senior Advisor and board member for several companies and is a partner at Strategus, a consulting firm. He is President of the Board of Directors of Sociesc, a university in Santa Catarina, and Managing Director of Savene Transporte Rodoviários.
Between 1993 and 2009, Mr. Heinzelmann was President and CEO of Embraco, where he led its transformation into a global leader in the compressor sector, with global market share of 20%. Before becoming CEO, Mr. Heinzelmann was responsible for technology development in this company, acting as R&D Director. He led the internationalization process of the company, founding industrial plants in Italy in 1994, China in 1995 and Slovakia in 1998. He also launched a sales unit in Mexico in 2004. In addition, as President of Embraco, in 1995 he established the first Brazilian industrial JV in China with local partner Snowflake Group, founding Embraco Snowflake Compressor Company (BESCO), to this day a reference for a successful JV. Through these efforts, Mr. Heinzelmann participated in various rounds of negotiations and industrial and government forums, garnering expertise in forging partnerships between Brazilian and Chinese companies.
Mr. Heinzelmann is one of the most recognized executives in Brazil. He received the title of Commander of the Order of Scientific Merit from the President of Brazil, Fernando Henrique Cardoso. He also received the title of Merit of Industry from Industrial Federation of Santa Catarina (FIESC), and the Anita Garibaldi medal, the most prestigious award in Santa Catarina state, from Santa Catarina’s Governor, Luiz Henrique da Silveira. As professional recognition, he received the Medal of Merit jointly from CONFEA, the National Confederation of Engineering, Architecture and Agronomy, and from Santa Catarina’s Regional Confederation of Engineering Architecture and Agronomy (CREA-SC).
Mr. Heinzelmann is an Honorary Citizen of the city of Joinville and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Slovakia for the South of Brazil.

Mario Espinosa

Mr. Espinosa is a Senior Advisor based in the Miami office. Prior to joining BroadSpan in July 2017, Mr. Espinosa was Managing Director and Co-Head of Citi’s Latin America Debt Markets Group. He has 30+ years of investment banking and debt markets advisory experience in Latin America, based in New York for 14 years and in Miami for the last 6 years. In this capacity, he led the debt restructuring of some of Latin America’s largest corporations, such as Cemex, Grupo Cementos Chihuahua, Pacific E&P, Endesa and others, representing over $24 billion of debt. He co - managed a team of 18 debt markets specialists located in New York, Mexico, São Paulo and Bogota. He is a frequent speaker at corporate banking conferences in the region, and his transactions have won numerous Industry awards.
He was one of about 20 Senior Securities Officers at Citi worldwide, with approval responsibilities for debt underwriting, bridge lending, and leveraged lending in the region. Prior to his assignment in New York, he worked in Mexico for 11 years, and led Citi’s debt markets business in the country. He also was Corporate Bank Head for Citi in Panama.
Mr. Espinosa is on the board of directors of the Calvert Foundation, an impact investment firm based in Washington, D.C. He obtained his BS in International Economics, School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University, and is a MS candidate in Economics, The Fletcher School, Tufts University. He is fluent in English and Spanish and proficient in French.

Santiago Villa

Mr. Villa is a Senior Advisors to BroadSpan, based in Medellin, Colombia, supporting M&A and restructuring transactions.
He is a former bank executive with more than 26 years of experience in commercial banking at Bancolombia with expertise in the areas of foreign trade and supply chain finance, international operations and private banking. He also has a wide experience as General Manager in different countries and managing cross-border projects.
Prior to joining BroadSpan, Mr. Villa was among others, Head of Trade Finance for Bancolombia Group, General Manager of Bancolombia Miami Agency, and General Manager of Bancolombia Panama and Bancolombia Cayman Islands.
Mr. Villa received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and holds a Systems Engineer Degree (Computer Science) from EAFIT University, Medellin, Colombia.
